16th November – Boston Manor House
For most Londoners, Boston Manor is nothing but the name of a Piccadilly line station passed on the way to Heathrow Airport. But just a 10 minute walk from the station is Boston Manor House built in the 17th Century. Today we will visit the fine Jacobean house and park. It was built for Lady Mary Reade in 1621 when she was widowed. There have been many different owners and a lot of the land was sold over the years until it was finally sold to Brentford Council in 1923. They made the grounds into a much loved public park. The beautifully restored historic interiors, including breath-taking original ornate plasterwork, are joined by two community exhibition halls. The House and grounds are open to the public free of charge. Unfortunately the Café is temporarily closed. Bring a packed lunch so we can picnic in the grounds. We meet at Harrow-on-the-Hill Station and travel together. Please contact Pam G CLICK HERE by the 9th November to let her know you are coming. (Leader – Sue)
14th December – Spitalfields Market (a week earlier than usual)
