Art and Craft
Our craft group aims to be quite varied in our activities. In the last few years, we have tried, among other things, stamping, stencilling, cardmaking, knitting, crochet, paper embroidery, glass painting, fabric painting, flower making, origami, decoupage, and making dorset buttons. We take turns leading projects, and often share resources. We always aim to share our experience. If you'd like to see what we've been up to, both individually and as a group, visit our blog: Crafty Harrow People. We're a rather informal group, but because of space constraints, can't always offer an immediate place. Group Leader: Tricia Embroidery It is a very friendly informal group of like minded people who love to embroider and where ideas can be shared. Members can do anything of their own choice while we also encourage each other about new projects or just to learn a new stitch. Advice will be given when asked and where possible. We here together to have fun. Group Leader - Judy Knitting and Crochet for Fun A fun class for those interested in knitting and crocheting meets each Wednesday morning. Using just two needles or a crochet hook, and a ball of yarn allows us to be creative as we share knowledge and help each other develop skills. We have a good time working on our individual items and often work on shared projects within the class. The group has grown considerably since the pandemic as more people have realised the importance of craft based activities in an informal and friendly environment. Group Leader – Jackie Photography We meet monthly at the Harrow Arts Centre in Hatch End. We might also get together in between our monthly meetings for a visit to photography exhibition or for an outing to take some photos. The class members are a mix all levels of experience from beginners to experienced, and we all learn from each other. We learn about and discuss photo techniques, composition, computer processing and printing and whatever the group members want to learn or improve. Each topic is led by a person or group members with particular knowledge or interests. We also show each other examples of our photographs, and I am determined that this, and the whole ethos of the group, would be non-competitive. These options and many other aspects are open for discussion. If you are interested in joining our Photography group, please contact me and give me your ideas. We held an exhibition of a selection of photographs taken by our members at the Harrow Arts Centre in 2022. Please follow the link. Photo Exhibition Group Leader - Stephen |
