MONTHLY SPEAKERS MEETINGS
Talks are on the last Thursday in the month (except where noted otherwise) and start promptly at 10.30am and are held in the Hatch End Suites 1 & 2 at the Harrow Arts Centre, Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, HA5 4EA. Please come early to get a good seat and not disturb the speaker or audience. For further details please check the U3A notice boards in the entrance lobby and near the lift. I have tried to arrange a wide range of subjects and have asked the most popular speakers to come back.
These meetings provide an opportunity for members from all groups to come together and welcome non- members, who may attend one meeting before joining Harrow U3A. The meetings are unashamedly publicity- seeking, and to advertise U3A to a wide audience.

Speakers Secretary
Thursday 31st January: Andy Thomas – ‘Unexplained Mysteries and Cover-ups’
Returning to us by popular demand, Andy (the 'Crop Circle Mystery' man) investigates some of
the most famous unexplained mysteries of recent history, and asks why the mainstream ignores
them in the face of sometimes impressive evidence. What is the truth about UFOs, pyramids,
ghosts, strange creatures, religious apparitions, psychics and ancient prophecies, and what is their
intriguing connection to some famous conspiracy theories?
Thursday 28th February: Judy Karbritz – ‘Behind the Cameras at the Movies’
Why Ron Moody chose his Yiddish accent for Fagin and what you never knew about 'The Wizard
of Oz', 'The Sound of Music', 'Singing in the Rain' and many other favourites.
Thursday 28th March: Thamar MacIver – ‘The History of the Harrow Arts Site’
Tamar MacIver from the Pinner Local History Society and author of 'Secret Pinner' will talk about
the history of the Harrow Arts Centre site. This illustrated talk will touch on the medieval
background and the impact of the London to Birmingham Railway.
Thursday 25th April: Barbara Whittle — ‘The Life and Music of Edith Piaf’
Barbara Whittle of jazz singer fame returns to speak about this iconic French singer who rose
from the streets of Paris to international stardom.
