If you do not have PowerPoint on your system you will have to load the free PowerPoint Viewer from Microsoft in order to view it.
Click here for the 2010 version.  It is compatible with Windows 7;Windows Vista Service Pack 1;Windows Vista Service Pack 2;Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Click here for the 2007 version which works with Windows 2000 (as well as the later versions of Windows above).
If you have Windows 98SE click here for the 2003 version.  The first 2 have full instructions.  This one does not (it is no longer on the Microsoft website though it still works).  Make a note of the folder to which you are downloading and the name of the file you are downloading (ppviewer.exe).  Once the file is downloaded open the folder and double click the file to start the installation process.  Follow the instructions on screen.  You may delete the file ppviewer.exe once you have run the installation process.  Check that the viewer is working before doing this.

Lectures 1 -14 are created in Powerpoint XP.  Lectures 15 and later are created in Powerpoint 2007 and require the 2007 or later viewer and only Internet Explorer recognises the files.

If you have Open Office on your computer you can open the downloaded file in the presentation package Impress (sometimes referred to as Simpress).  It will not have the custom animations i.e. all the slide will load at the same time instead of point by point when you run the slide show.

Getting started with Powerpoint XP
How to get pictures from the Internet

PowerPoint Level 2  This is a large file - 66 pages - it will take time to load/download.

I have not updated these files and they contain references to the computer suite (of the College of North West London) which you should ignore.  Also where PowerPoint is on your computer will differ from CNWL computer suite.

PowerPoint 2007 & 2010 files  For copyright reasons I cannot put Paul Summers materials on the website.  Here is a link to his website.  There are links to free courses on this page.

Getting started with Powerpoint 2007
To run a slide show
How to find Pictures on the Internet
To insert pictures into PowerPoint
How to create animations that run on all slides in PowerPoint 2010 - 2007 is similar - This is so that when a slide opens each point opens separately as you click the mouse.
